RN – ICU- Long Term Acute Care. Treating patients with medically-complex conditions receive daily physician assessments. Nures / patient ratio1:5 on night shift. Vents are managed by RT’s who are on site 24/7. The nurses do not need intubation experience but nurse will need to be competent in handling ETT (which are rare but we do get them) and trachs (which are quite frequent). Critical drips drop to a ratio of 1:3 typically, as do high risk airways (anyone who has an ETT or anyone whose trach is less than 3 days old).
